Home Adult Members Introduction

Adult members of Scout Association of Hong Kong, based on their roles or functions, are divided into three categories.

The major one is Scout Leaders. They are responsible for and implement all matters related to the Scout Movement and are all volunteers. Scout Leaders can be subdivided into Leaders in the Scout Groups, District or Regional Staff and Commissioners who are responsible for Scout Group meetings, Scout activities and training, operations, planning, and policy making respectively.

The other category is Lay Members, who provide support, such as professional advice, financial resources and networking, and are also volunteers.

The last category is Professional Scouters who are paid staff and assist in the execution and administration of daily routines.

All these adult members work together so that better programmes are supported in the delivery by and for youth members, and strive for the fulfillment of the Aim and Method of the Association: “to encourage the physical, mental, social and spiritual development of young people so that they may take a constructive place in society, by providing an enjoyable and attractive scheme of progressive training, based on the Scout Promise and the Scout Law and guided by adult leadership.”

Adult membership of the Association is voluntary and is open to all persons who are aged 18 or above, is no discrimination as to admission for any reason of race, creed, class or sex so long such person is a Hong Kong Resident ordinarily residing, studying or working in Hong Kong, and are prepared to observe and follow the Association's principles and to acknowledge the Scout Promise and the Scout Law.
